Endings & Beginnings

Today was the last day of The Morning Show on MPR with Jim Ed Poole retiring and Dale Connelly going solo on Radio Heartland available via HD radio and your dang-blasted computer. I am sad. Nay - heartbroken. Must everything be tied to your computer? I mean, on the one hand I am relieved that the playlist we've come to love will still be available in some format. But I am distressed that I will need to spend even more of my valuable time parked in front of this contraption in order to hear it. Or at least within earshot. Does anyone else despise these stupid time-sucking machines the way I do? Hear my plea!!!

I will attempt to attend the final show featuring live performers at the Fitzgerald Theater tomorrow morning. But let's face it. I know my shortcomings. To rise and shine, not to mention drive 25 miles each way, at 5 am is probably beyond my ability. I can barely manage that to get up that early to go to the airport for vacation. However, I will try to rise above my limitations so as not to miss this important ending.

They have been noticeably mum on what's to come. Building anticipation? Let's hope the new morning show will have some resemblance to the old - if only in variety of music. I endeavor to remain optimistic about the 'new beginning' this represents for whoever is to follow. They will be talking to thousands of us in the wee small hours when we are shaking the sand off and struggling to come alive. Let's hope they have
a pleasant voice & big feet to fill the big shoes.

Will we ever hear "Prairie Sun" again?
