Silence & solitude. I must be dead and gone to heaven.
The only phone call I received tonight was at 9:30 from my beloved who is imprisoned in CA (thankfully, with pay). He had just talked to his brother who is here in MN and when he learned that it was 93 and humid, he felt guilty about leaving without installing the air conditioner so he called to see how I'm faring. As it turns out, remarkably well.
It was muumuu and manicure night, with a cheese sandwich & popsicles thrown in for good measure. The highlight of the 4-10 pm hours has been reading a book. (Angels & Demons by Dan Brown). So many consecutive pages that my eyes are wonky. I can't remember the last time I read so much as a cereal box label without an interruption. It is blissful to read again.
Today I bought a package of bug bombs for the basement. Tomorrow, I'll set one off so that I can sleep down there without fear of being eaten alive by spiders. See? This carefully conceived plan proves that the old brain isn't cooked quite yet.
